P P Divya, the Kannur CPI(M) leader who is also the District Panchayat Vice President has taken a strong stand against people who torture children in the name of Sabarimala pilgrimage. Taking her official Facebook handle, Divya posted pictures of a dad walking from Kasargode to Sabarimala barefoot with his two young kids. On her social media page, Divya posted that any such act performed in the name of pilgrimage is something very painful.
Divya’s post soon went viral on social media, and many people started supporting her for protecting the rights of children. Amidst of the heated talks, some people have asked Divya why she is targeting only one religion in the name of child abuse. They even cited the example of male genitalia Circumcision which has been carried out for years in Islam. Some of them also argued that baptism should be also considered child abuse, as it is being done without the permission of the children.
Avatar Today’s view on this case is pretty straightforward. Any acts which hinder the freedom of children should be dealt in a very serious manner; let it be the Sabarimala pilgrimage or the compulsory male genitalia circumcision among Islam believers. We also urge CPI(M) leaders like P P Divya to take a strong stand against all the injustices in the society irrespective of religion.
A soft stand on certain issues may provide you some instant votes in the next election, but in the course of time, it will result in the mass extinction of the party, as the general public always expect something dignified from the Communist Party. The future lies in the hands of communism, and when the same party which is the breath of the labor class starts acting in a biased manner, the majority will lose their belief on the party, and it will surely pave way for the fanatics to reach our ‘God’s own Land’.
‘Child rights are not reserved for children in any particular community, each and every human being who takes birth in this world should be given equal treatment irrespective of caste, creed, and color’.
